Filter technology

The right filter for dust, fumes, gases and vapours

Particle and combination filters for the swiss air and e3000X powered air systems, chosen to match the contaminants at your workplace.

optrel e3000X — Filter technology

Effective respiratory protection depends on a filter matched to the contaminants — dust, smoke, gases or vapours. The swiss air and e3000X powered air systems work with particle filters and with combination filters that combine particle filtration with gas adsorption.

Particle filter P

Captures solid particles: dust, smoke, soot and metal particles. Contaminated air passes through a finely structured filter medium in which the particles are trapped mechanically or electrostatically. It is the standard filter for welding, metalworking, construction and mining.

Combination filters

ABE1P protects against particles and certain organic (A), inorganic (B) and acidic gases and vapours, including sulphur dioxide (E). A2P uses activated carbon and is designed for organic gases and vapours with a boiling point above 65 °C, typical of solvents, paints and varnishes. ABEK1P adds protection against ammonia (K). The number after the letter indicates the filter capacity class — from 1 (low) to 3 (high).

Which filter for which system

swiss air works with the particle filter and with the ABE1P, A2P and ABEK1P combination filters (A2P and ABEK1P require the green control panel). e3000X works with the particle filter and with the A1B1E1 gas filter, used together with a separate particle filter. In both systems you can add the mountain breeze odour filter to a particle filter; combination filters already include an odour barrier.

Always use a pre-filter and spark guard — they extend the life of the main filter. Check the pre-filter regularly and replace it when it is dirty; replace the main filter when it is clogged, visibly dirty or when the system warns of excessive filter resistance. Choose the right filter for a specific workplace together with your safety officer.
