PAPR welding helmets — when you need one and how to choose
A powered air (PAPR) welding helmet combines eye and face protection with respiratory protection: filtered air flows under the face shield and slight overpressure keeps welding fumes out. It is the solution for long shifts, confined spaces and workstations where fume extraction is not enough.
Blower unit or compressed air
optrel PAPR helmets work with the e3000X blower unit (TH3, up to 240 l/min, up to 18 hours on one battery, ATEX certified) and with the suppliedair system, which supplies the helmet with compressed air from your network — for example in toxic environments and confined spaces.
Helmet only or a ready-to-weld package?
You can buy a PAPR helmet without a blower unit — if you already have an e3000X or suppliedair — or as a ready-to-weld package in which the helmet and the e3000X are matched. Each package page lists exactly what is included.
Filter specifications
The PAPR versions use the same auto-darkening filters as the corresponding standard models: crystal lens technology (CLT) with a 2.0 light state, quattro with optical class 1/1/1/1 and 2.5 with a 2.5 light state. See the helmet comparison for all specifications side by side.
