ShadeTronic®

The right shade level, set automatically and steplessly

The electronics measure the brightness of the arc and continuously adjust the shade level of the filter. You never have to stop work to change settings.

optrel e684 — ShadeTronic®

ShadeTronic® is optrel’s electronic control of how the auto-darkening filter darkens and lightens. The name combines “shade” (shade level) and “tronic” (electronics) and sums up the idea: the helmet sets the right protection for the arc by itself.

How it works

Highly sensitive infrared sensors detect the arc and pass the signal to the electronics. The shade level itself is controlled solely by the visible light of the arc — a light sensor measures it, and the filter adjusts steplessly and in real time across the entire shade range.

What you gain

When you increase the amperage or switch processes, for example from MIG/MAG to TIG, there is no need to readjust anything by hand. The correct shade is set automatically, which reduces the risk of human error and lets you work without interruption — especially where lighting conditions change quickly.

Automation does not take away control: if the view seems too bright or too dark, you can fine-tune it steplessly by ±2 shade levels (except liteflip).

ShadeTronic® is found in the helix, panoramaxx and sphereX series and in e684, crystal2.0 and liteflip autopilot.
