Multi-Sensor-Detection

Up to five sensors for reliable arc detection anywhere

Infrared sensors and a light sensor work together to detect the arc reliably, even in awkward positions and changing lighting conditions.

optrel e684 — Multi-Sensor-Detection

Multi-Sensor-Detection is a system of several sensors that continuously monitors working conditions and decides when the filter darkens. The newer series — panoramaxx (including the laser versions), helix and sphereX — use five sensors; crystal2.0, e684, vegaview2.5, liteflip and neo p550 use three.

Not all sensors are the same

Two to four infrared sensors (depending on the model) pick up the invisible IR radiation emitted by the arc, the weld pool and glowing workpieces. A light sensor measures the intensity of visible light and feeds the ShadeTronic® automatic shade control.

What you gain

The infrared sensors have overlapping detection angles, so together they cover a much larger area. The arc is detected even in difficult welding positions and poor lighting, and the filter switches more stably and is less prone to interference. Continuous monitoring reacts to even small changes in arc intensity, which reduces eye strain.

Even if the filter failed to darken, you would still be protected: the UV and IR filters work passively, all the time.
